Doha, October 06 (QNA) – HE President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan called for discussing the possible investment opportunities between Qatar and Tanzania in various economic fields.

During Her Excellency’s meeting with the Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) in presence of HE QBA Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani, Her Excellency said that Qatar and Tanzania have huge potentials to strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade exchange, investment promotion, tourism, gas exploration, port development, agriculture, energy, and other fields.

Her Excellency noted that Qatar and Tanzania have always enjoyed historical bilateral relations, which grew stronger after the opening of the embassies of the two countries and the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries in light of the pursuit of building strategic partnerships that will positively contribute to the economies of the two countries.

For his part, HE QBA Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani spoke about the wealth in resources in the Republic of Tanzania, in addition to the political stability that encourages investments.

Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim indicated that there are real investment opportunities in the fields of tourism, agriculture and energy support projects, stressing that the association will visit Tanzania as part of a high-level delegation after the World Cup.

QBA Chairman also stressed that there is a common interest to develop bilateral collaboration, in light of the enormous potentials of both countries, pointing out that the Qatari businessmen are keen to learn about the opportunities available in Tanzania and to benefit from its natural resources, agricultural lands and its strategic location.

During the meeting, the delegation accompanying HE the president gave an overview regarding the investment environment in Tanzania and the incentives provided by the Tanzanian government to Qatari investors who are willing to invest in Tanzania, noting that Tanzania has investment opportunities in several sectors and many regions other than Zanzibar, such as support services for energy projects in transportation and pipelines and other projects linking the country with its neighbors.

Tanzania has about 48.1 million hectares of cultivated lands and water and produces many agricultural food crops such as maize, rice, millet, sorghum and wheat.

The relations between Qatar and Tanzania are growing, and the volume of trade exchange has reached QR 300 million in 2021, compared to QR 169 million in 2020, representing a growth of 70 percent.
