Undersecretary of Ministry of Commerce, Industry Says Qatar Sees Concerted Int’l Efforts Key to Face Cross-border Crises

Doha, October 06 (QNA) – HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater stressed Thursday that Qatars participation in the 13th edition of the Turkish-Arab Economic Forum, which was held Thursday in Istanbul, Turkey reflects the strong belief that confronting cross-border crises can only be achieved through concerted efforts of the international community and realizing the importance of partnership as a key guarantee to boost bilateral relations among countries.

His Excellency added that the State of Qatar regards Turkey as one of its most important strategic partners.

This came in a speech delivered by HE Al-Khater during the main session of the forum, in which His Excellency hailed the distinguished and close brotherly relations between the two sisterly countries, which are based on common denominators crystallized by the solidarity positions and converging visions of both sides in various fields.

This positively impacted the level of trade exchange between both countries that touched about USD 1.8 billion in 2021, in addition to more than 767 Turkish companies operating in various vital sectors in the country, HE Al-Khater said.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry affirmed the importance of this forum as a platform to explore the prospects for global economic growth amid the current challenges, and to discuss ways to consolidate the trade and investment partnership between Arab countries and the Republic of Turkey.

The current edition of the forum discussed several important axes, including the new pillars of the Turkish-Arab economic partnership, the development of trade through investment in supply chains and logistics, new investment prospects in Turkey, opportunities in the field of food security and other vital topics.

Launched in 2005, the forum held12 previous editions, and it aims to discuss a number of common economic issues among Arab countries and the Republic of Turkey, as well as reviewing ways to enhance and deepen economic and investment cooperation between the two sides. (QNA)
