Doha, October 11 (QNA) – The Ministry of Commerce & Industry has organized a two-day training program on trademarks and trade names for the employees of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection, Commercial Registration Licenses Departments and Single Window Services in collaboration with International Trademark Association (INTA).

The training program comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to promote the protection of intellectual rights and upgrade the employees’ readiness and capability, enhance their abilities and explore any updates on the procedures related to trademarks and trade names.

The program addressed a myriad of themes, including a general introduction to intellectual property and trademarks, the most pervasive rights of intellectual and industrial property, such as copyright, literary works, trade secrets, patents and industrial designs, on trademarks and trade names and highlighted the law No. 9 of 2002 on trademarks and trade data, trademarks, industrial designs and geographical indications, in addition to Law No. 7 of 2014 promulgating the law (regulation) of trademarks in the GCC Countries.

The program has also focused on the concept of trademarks, their types, elements, significance, methods of inspection and inquiry, as well as geographical indications. (QNA)
