Doha, October 24 (QNA) – Ambassadors Programme Manager at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) Faisal Khalid expressed his pride at the work done by the SC’s team in preparing in the World Cup. He stressed that participation in the preparation to host this international means contributing to rewriting the history of the State of Qatar and the region.

Speaking to the SC’s website, he said “I never once thought I would be a part of the team to deliver this mega-event. Thank God I was approached with the opportunity and I believed in it and took it. I am honored to be a part of this project. Tell us about your role at the SC and how youre helping to deliver the tournament.”
He added that “being a part of this tournament means being a part of the countrys history. I will forever be proud of my role at the SC and contributing to the success of the World Cup. I dont think our generation will witness a similar mega-event in our lifetime, so it fills me with pride.”
On his feelings when Qatar won the right to win the World Cup, he said “I remember I was away on a trip with friends and we were watching the TV in a coffee shop.

The crowd suddenly cheered and we celebrated on the streets. There are no words to describe my feelings on that day. I felt a combination of pride and excitement. I cant believe we are now in 2022. It feels like we just won the bid yesterday.”
On his daily work, he said “a typical day involves coordinating and communicating with FIFA legends and ambassadors. We work with internal teams such as Generation Amazing and Fan Engagement, who sometimes request ambassadors for specific activations. The Ambassadors Programme is responsible for ensuring a seamless collaboration with ambassadors, and thinking of creative ways to best showcase them for the benefit of Qatar and the tournament.”
“As we all know, this is the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and Arab world, so its crucial to promote it in the best and most effective way possible through our numerous ambassadors. We have a variety of local and international ambassadors and FIFA legends that showcase the tournament and everything Qatar will offer,” he added.

Speaking about the challenges the team faces in preparing for the World Cup, Khalid said that there is no doubt that working around the clock is a challenge we face every day here at the SC, and working with ambassadors in their time zones in accordance with their schedules is a big challenge for the SC, stressing that working hours vary depending on the geographical region of the other party, adding that when dealing with an ambassador in Brazil, for example, like Cafu, the time difference between Qatar and Brazil will be taken into account.

On his relationship with the World Cup ambassadors, Faisal commented that the work team and ambassadors have strong relationships strengthened over the past years, underlining that he has always loved video games, played FIFA and chose football legends as players, he did not expect to meet them one day, explaining that now when he had the opportunity to work on the program, they became part of his daily routine and it was like a dream that he did not expect to come true.

Khalid reiterated that now he communicates with such legends, like Cafu, Samuel Eto’o, Ronald de Boer and others, on a daily basis, and he has great friendships with them.

The SC emphasizes that the World Cup sustainable legacy is not limited to the advanced infrastructure and world-class sports facilities, but the preparation journey for the tournament has contributed to building outstanding Qatari experiences in various fields, who worked wholeheartedly to achieve the dream, form an honorable history for the country and the region, and provide role models for future generations.

Since the beginning of its World Cup journey, the SC has launched a range of initiatives and programs aimed at investing the power of football and its wide popularity in making positive changes at the social, humanitarian, economic and environmental levels in the world, to build a sustainable legacy for the championship.

The Ambassadors program includes a diverse team from different cultures and backgrounds who are responsible for coordinating with local and international ambassadors, including former players of the Qatari national team, and other former football stars in the region.
