Doha, October 30 (QNA) – President of the Algerian Center for Economic Foresight, Investment Development and Entrepreneurship (CEFIDE) Akram Zidi stressed that the State of Qatar represents a role model in developing its economy, diversifying its incomes, and its ability to adapt and resist the successive global economic crises.
In exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Zidi said that the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in the 31st Arab Summit in Algeria, at the invitation of his brother, HE President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune will give the summit great momentum and influence, affirming His Highness’ keenness to boost joint Arab action and Arab solidarity.
He added that the State of Qatar has always affirmed its keenness on Arab reunification, to bolster joint Arab action mechanisms, advocate Arab issues, and strive towards Arab economic integration against regional and international challenges, especially as it has a pioneering development model in the region.
The Qatari experience in building a balanced, flexible and diversified economy enabled it to confront the various challenges and crises that the largest economies in the world have suffered from, especially during the COVID-19 crisis, the collapse of oil prices, and then the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Zidi told (QNA).
He pointed out that most countries in the region have begun to follow the example of Qatar in diversifying sources of income in light of successive global challenges, and Algeria is one of the countries that has achieved significant progress in this field, which is reflected in the positive indicators of the non-oil sector.
Commenting on the Qatari-Algerian relations, Zidi highlighted the growing development in bilateral relations owing to the directives of the leaderships of both countries, and their keenness to push them towards broader horizons to serve the two brotherly peoples.
He also highlighted the efforts made by the leaderships of both countries to advance economic relations towards broader horizons to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries, especially amid the current international circumstances that require enhancing bilateral and joint action among Arab countries to ensure their interests and security at all levels.
He stressed that pan-Arab cooperation tops Algeria’s priorities. Hence, it boosts this investment cooperation with agreements and memoranda of understanding, especially in vital fields such as energy, agriculture, tourism, fisheries, and other promising sectors in Algeria, he said.
Zidi added that the atmosphere is conducive for new partnerships between the private sector in the two countries based on the momentum in relations. There are promising opportunities for partnership with the Qatari business sector, especially with the issuance of the new investment law in Algeria, which spread an atmosphere of confidence between local and foreign investors, he added.
He stressed that the State of Qatar was the first stop to promote investment in Algeria immediately after the adoption of the new investment law, highlighting the State of Qatar’s plans to expand its foreign investment network, in addition to the strong and effective Qatari private sector at the local, regional and global levels.
Algeria has given great attention to emerging companies and small and medium-sized enterprises, which can be attractive to foreign investments, Zidi said, adding this allows to exchange expertise with the State of Qatar in this field through further meetings between business owners in both countries.
