Algeria, November 01 (QNA) – President of the National Foundation for Health Progress and Medical Research Development (Foram) Dr. Mustapha Khayati underlined in his interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the Algerian Qatari-German hospital that was inaugurated today represents an engine for the development of Algerian health sector in light of the government plans devoted to advancing such sector, indicating that this is the first foreign investment in the health sector which paves the way for foreign investments in this sector, pointing out that the process is on the right direction towards reconsidering the health system with the objective of developing the health sector in the country, he added, pointing out that such medical edifice anticipates the accommodation of roughly 400 beds to constitute a qualitative addition to the health system since it contributes to undertaking the majority of medical cases and the surgical procedures, particularly the complex procedures that were precipitating the transference of patients to hospitals abroad.

He hoped the hospital would cope the enormous technological evolution witnessed in this medical field at this current time in diagnosis and the intractable surgical procedures, noting that the utilization of such technologies help promote the storage capacity of hospitals and double the cases that would potentially benefit from the medical services, noting the quality of economic and investment partnership between the State of Qatar and Algeria, affirming that such partnership remained at the local, regional and international levels that aims to serve the human everywhere, anticipating that such medical project would open the wide door to local, Arab and foreign investments in this sector, especially after overhauling the investment legal system in Algeria. Likewise, he underscored that such medical edifice represents an opportunity to increase the health cooperation between the two countries and open a window of sharing the expertise and experiences and utilizing the Qatari expertise in various aspects of regulating and developing the Algerian health system, in addition to qualifying and training the medical and nursing cadres, including the university students affiliated with the medical and health disciplines.

He also anticipated that such qualitative projects would attract the Algerian medical professional immigrants to further utilize their medical and health expertise, especially that such medical edifice is predicted to be with a high-level of quality and excellence in offering the medical care, training, research and health development, expressing his utmost optimism for this project which is intended to directly serve the Algerian citizens in one of the most important sectors, adding that such partnership has a humanitarian significance, and he is certain that it will yield its fruits in the future and open the door in front of other projects in the social and health sectors, noting the health system in the State of Qatar, which is similar to the longest-standing health systems in the world or outperforms them in terms of evolution, indicating that the health system in the State of Qatar has witnessed a striking evolution and remained a model, adding that he realized the stages and the progress made by this sector to reach this level of quality and excellence at the global level during his multiple visits to the State of Qatar, emphasizing in Aspetar which is a leading specialized orthopedic and sports medicine hospital, reaffirming that such medical edifice is one of the models that confirms the extent of the evolution the medical sector in Qatar attained, which offers high-quality of integrated medical services to treat the injuries of sport people making Qatar a destination for such kind of medical services.

In his closing remarks to QNA, Dr. Khayati reiterated that the State of Qatar has succeeded in investment to build the human, adding that he realized the major accomplishments over the two last decades during his multiple visits to the country, especially in the medical sector.

It has been agreed to build a modern hospital within the framework of the Algerian- Qatari partnership during the visit paid by the president Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Doha in February 2022, and in the same month, president Tebboune assigned the government to set up a follow-up committee to further implement the project and the remaining mega Qatari investment projects that seek to remove the administrative hurdles and provide a conducive environment to carry out the investment projects that had been agreed upon during the visit.

In addition, It is anticipated that the Algerian Qatari-German hospital is set to accommodate approximately 400 beds and comply with the international standards in the area of management engineering for effective healthcare delivery that would evidently reduce pressure and prevent overwhelming hospitals in the remaining areas of Algeria.
