Doha, November 06 (QNA) – Qatar Charity (QC) announced Sunday that its field relief teams in Sudan carried out a convoy of food aid for those displaced due to the recent events in the Blue Nile region, and also implemented a project to respond to floods in the River Nile State.
Sudanese government agencies hailed the QC’s continuous projects, carried out in cooperation with its international partners, to help the displaced and provide the necessary food aid to them.
The first food aid convoy was carried out in cooperation with Save the Children, brought the volume of food aid provided by the QC to those affected in the Blue Nile region to 214 tons of food stuff so far. The second project, funded by START FUND and Save the Children UK, included a series of qualitative shelter, water and environmental sanitation interventions in the deluged areas in the River Nile State.
Speaking at the inauguration of the convoy to address the humanitarian repercussions of the Blue Nile events at the headquarters of the QC in Khartoum, HE Minister of Social Development in Sudan Ahmed Adam Bakheet expressed his appreciation for the humanitarian efforts of the State of Qatar and QC. The State of Qatar is appreciated for its successive efforts to help its families in Sudan, His Excellency said.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid in River Nile State Afaf Taj Al Sir Muhammad Madani said that the QC’s field teams provided a lot of support to the affected areas during and after the disaster until they became part of the community there, a move highly appreciated by those affected in the villages on the east and west banks of the Nile.
