Doha, November 08 (QNA) – The Art Education Department of the College of Education at Qatar University (QU) organized an art exhibition on the World Cup, which showcases student contributions that reflect the identity of the community in an artistic way.

Dean of the College of Education Sheikha Dr. Hessa bint Hamad Al-Thani said that the exhibition this year coincided with the World Cup 2022, confirming that out of the keenness of the college to interact with local and international events and put its educational, artistic and cultural imprint on various occasions, the Department of Art Education through the exhibition transforms the interaction of society with the World Cup events into a visual language reflecting the culture and identity of the community and its unique cultural and artistic heritage.

She added that this exhibition shows visual artistic richness, and various and diverse artistic experiences, both in terms of practical artistic techniques or materials complementary to the image of the artwork, which is evidence of the student’s involvement in their local culture, their interaction with world events, and the diligence of promising artistic teachers, to communicate their message and deliver it to millions of the world, who today are heading with all their attention towards the most important sporting event in the world in Qatar.

She pointed out that the College of Education aims to prepare a promising generation of teachers, educators and artists, and is keen to support amateurs and practitioners of the art in various fields.

For her part, Head of Art Education Dr. Latifa Al-Meghaissib confirmed that the art exhibition is the artistic production of the outputs of the department’s various courses, through which the department is keen to connect the student, artist and teacher, with the events of society and the surrounding world to express their feelings, using what they learned from various techniques and artistic methods with their artistic vision.

She said that the contemplator of the exhibition’s artworks finds them expressing the joy of Qatar hosting the 2022 World Cup by introducing the heritage and landmarks of the country and mixing the symbols of the World Cup in innovative ways that reflect the awareness and skills of students acquired through the concerted efforts of course teachers to reach this high level.
