Sharm El Sheikh, November 08 (QNA) – Secretary of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Abdallah Mokssit visited today the State of Qatar’s pavilion at the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 27 in Egypt, and praised the State of Qatar’s efforts in preparation for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Mokssit highlighted the State of Qatar’s commitment to the environment, which was reflected in the construction of World Cup stadiums at the highest environmental standards, expressing appreciation to the efforts made in that regard.
He said the Qatari participation in COP 27 plays a part in enhancing the level of information provided to help in climate negotiations. He added that COP 27 must implement the Paris Accord and provide substantial facts on the process of development by states. He added that this could be done by making contributions in the use of clean energy and establishing programmes to lower Carbon emissions.
He expressed his thanks to the Qatari delegation participating in COP 27 on their efforts. (QNA)
