Doha, November 09 (QNA) – HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai made visit to FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 International Broadcast Centre and the office for testing spectrum frequency. Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) at Qatar National Convention Centre.
His Excellency was briefed on the progress of work in the center and the office, and checked preparations ahead of the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 to ensure they provide state-of-the-art services in line with FIFA specifications.
The International Broadcast Centre is one of the most advanced in the world, through which it will transmit all the footage and events of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 to the rest of the world. The spectrum office is also one of 12 run by the CRA. The CRA is responsible for managing, allocating, licensing and monitoring the use of frequency spectrum in the State of Qatar.
HE the Minister said that he was proud that Qatar National Convention Centre, which he described as an important national establishment that hosted many events over the years, is set to be the World Cup’s first ever to host both the international broadcast center and the office for testing spectrum.
His Excellency said that he was briefed today on the perfect preparations taking place ahead of the historic World Cup in Qatar, set to take place in the next few days. He stressed that the infrastructure provided to the International Broadcast Centre reflects the advanced level of the State of Qatar’s telecommunications sector.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology expressed his happiness with the presence of CRA cadres in a designated office at the Qatar National Convention Center, specialized in conducting tests for all radio equipment and licensing for use in the official sites of the tournament. He added that this step provides the necessary protection for all stakeholders using frequencies on their networks. and their wireless devices and systems efficiently and without fear of interference that negatively affect their operations.
Speaking exclusively to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE the Minister said that today’s visit was to check on preparations at the International Broadcast Center, which uses state-of-the-art technology in its field. His Excellency said that FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will be the first World Cup ever to be broadcast using IP, instead of traditional technologies like satellites and other networks known to users.
His Excellency said that the broadcast center is linked to systems all over the world. He added that there are six destinations connected to the center. His Excellency also said that the center is connected many different networks, which helps prevent any technical issues. All broadcast done from the stadium will go through the center first.
HE the Minister noted that, in some ways, the stadiums are also connected to the center and its signal is broadcast to the world. His Excellency concluded his remarks to QNA by saying that the broadcast center and the spectrum-testing office are fully ready for World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that FIFA confirmed that as well. (QNA)
