Doha, November 09 (QNA) – Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has conducted simulation exercises for the operational activities in cooperation with the strategic partners, factories, national enterprises, hypermarkets and catering companies to supply the local markets with food products and consumer goods during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
In a statement Wednesday, MoCI said that the simulation exercises for the operational activities come within the framework of Qatar’s keenness to set the appropriate scenarios in pursuit of countering the predicted challenges during the organization of the tournament, especially those related to the mechanism of communication with the national enterprises, local factories, commodities providers with supermarkets and respond promptly once a shortage of stock is reported at the outlets, catering companies, and the three central markets.
The simulation exercises aim to test the rapid response plans to any potential emergency, inspect the readiness of multiple parties interested in dealing with a myriad of scenarios, ensure the comprehension of the joint plans and determine the roles and responsibilities.
The exercises saw the participation of the operations chamber of the emergency committee to ensure the supply and flow of foodstuff and supplies at MoCI, strategic partners, supermarkets, national enterprises and factories, catering companies and the major suppliers of food and consumer goods.
In addition, MoCI indicated that the simulation exercises constituted an opportunity to further assess the effectiveness of the coordination mechanisms and the available communication channels for the operational activities among all partners in preparation for organizing and hosting the global sporting event.
The simulation exercises included the implementation of numerous potential events and scenarios during the organization of the tournament and determine the methods of handling them by the concerned entities, where the exercises tested the process of supplying the varieties of vegetables and fruits from the stores owned by the strategic partners transferred to the central markets in (Al Sailiya, Umm Salal and Al Wakra) in coordination with Aswaq for food facilities management, in addition to testing the process of supplying the varieties of vegetables, fruits, frozen red meat, frozen chicken, table eggs, and bottled water from the stores owned by the strategic partners to catering companies, along with testing the process of supplying the varieties of foodstuff from the stores of the strategic partners to the major hypermarkets or their stores, such as Al Meera, Carrefour, Lulu Hypermarket, Safari Hypermarket, Spar, Maskar Hypermarket and Family Food Center.
The ministry confirmed the success of the simulation exercises which reflect the preparation of all concerned entities to fulfil the multiple requirements of the local markets during the organization of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. (QNA)
