Doha, November 09 (QNA) – The Katara Cultural Village Foundation launched “Wqtah” application which is available for download on the Apple and Android systems. The application serves both users and business owners and facilitates business owners listing and promoting their rest stops, camps, sports activities or trips through the application, and managing their reservations professionally.
The application also offers customers the possibility to search and compare prices and learn about new places with an effective and direct booking experience through the mobile app. whilst maintaining the confidentiality of customers information, by using secure electronic payment options.
The Founder and CEO of the Wqtah application Mohammed Khamis Al Sulaiti said in a press conference that it is an ambitious and emerging technology company in the tourism sector, especially domestic tourism, incubated in Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) and part of the Microsoft for Startups Program.
Al Sulaiti added that the it started with a vision to take the local tourism industry to a higher level by providing advanced technological solutions that help in the process of digital transformation in Qatar, which is one of the main pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Wqtah CEO considered that as the Internet became available to all Qatar residents today, the depth of the gap between business owners and their customers has been noticed. Additionally, post-COVID-19 pandemic, the use of applications and payment (online) has increase, however, business owners sometimes face difficulties and challenges in implementing online payment methods in the optimal way for their customers, which affects their sales. For this reason, the Wqtah app has started to create a bridge between business owners and customer by building an online platform to connect them together in an easy-to-use place with a secure payment system.
In turn, QSTP Innovation Director Hayfa Al Abdulla said that they have always sought to support and incubate emerging projects in Qatar whose aim is to serve the community by providing innovative solutions. As such 00 is proud today to launch Wqtah as a vivid example of that, as a Qatari application that solves problems in an innovative way, commending the high-quality design, business model and launch in record time.
For his part, Small and Medium Business Lead at Microsoft Jamal Bdeir praised this achievement and the Wqtah-team, noting Microsoft’s keenness to support and embrace the platform since the beginning. (QNA)
