Doha, November 10 (QNA) – HE Minister of Transport, Chairman of Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti affirmed the contribution of the opening of the Hamad Port Visitor Center to educating current and future generations and introducing visitors and the world to the history and heritage of the State of Qatar in the field of maritime navigation and trade, across the seas over a long period of time.
His Excellency highlighted, in today’s statements, that this center will support the country’s efforts in preserving this historical heritage through its integrated facilities that embody all aspects of the Qatari maritime heritage and its development over time, towards achieving the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, noting that it will also highlight Hamad Port, the vision, resources, commitment and great determination to complete one of the largest and most prestigious projects in the country.
The center is distinguished by the presence of an aquarium for marine life, which includes 17 aquariums of different sizes, and contains 80 species of fish and marine organisms, with a total of 3063 marine organisms. It will also play an important role in disseminating marine culture and knowledge for visitors, as it contains rare fish that connect them mentally with the Umm Al Houl environment, in which Hamad Port is located in particular, and Qatar’s marine environment in general.
The center contains the Maritime Museum, which tells the history of the State of Qatar, and displays paintings of ancient ways of living in Qatar, in addition to the stories of maritime trade and its development through the ages, the innovation of containers and the development of ships, and the operational processes in Hamad Port and its importance in our daily lives, especially as it is equipped with advanced interactive screens, which provides simulation of many activities, such as marine life, port operation, ship driving etc.
In terms of launching the Port Community System (PCS) “Mwanina”, HE Minister of Transport said that the launch of this new system comes in line with the Ministry’s plans to provide an efficient and effective network of smart commercial ports, integrated with other means of transportation, to link the local economy with global markets, in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, indicating that the “Mawanina” system, which contributes to facilitating the entry of ships in general, keeps pace with the Country’s plans to transform Qatar into a vibrant regional commercial center in the region, by facilitating commercial operations and enhancing their efficiency according to the highest standards of security and safety, by promoting and supporting digital transformation efforts in the trade and logistics sectors in the country.
For his part, Mwani Qatar CEO Captain Abdullah Mohammed Al Khanji said that the new PCS “Mwanina” will facilitate the exchange of information between exporters, importers, shipping lines and all port stakeholders, through a single point of contact that saves users time and effort, pointing out that so far, 141 shipping and customs clearance companies and shipping agencies have been registered with the new system.
Al Khanji affirmed that Mwani Qatar constantly seeks to invest in advanced technological innovations, which bring enormous benefits to the trading community. It also plays a key role in Qatar’s transformation into a competitive knowledge-based economy.
The Port Community System (PCS) “Mwanina” is an electronic platform that allows smart and secure exchange of information between stakeholders and various port-related authorities, which contributes to making the import and export operations more efficient and effective in terms of time and cost.
This system will support green initiatives by reducing reliance on paper, eliminating manual intervention, delays and errors that result from it, which contributes to raising performance and productivity indicators and supports the national economy and commercial movement along with the development of logistics services in the State of Qatar.
