Doha, November 10 (QNA) – HE Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to the State of Qatar Guillermo Nicolas affirmed that with the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, history is ready to write one of its biggest chapters so far, the first World Cup to be held in the Arab world and a Muslim country.

In a similar context, HE noted how Qatar’s World Cup stadiums blend art and engineering.

In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE said, “history is written in every World Cup. This year, the set is ready for one of its biggest chapters so far. Just by the fact of this edition being the first one to be played in the Arab world and in a Muslim country is enough to deserve its place in the records of the competition.”

The long road is reaching its final destination and Qatar is getting ready for the biggest event in sports, HE said, adding that the country has long prepared to host the largest sporting event and the preparations it underwent provide all the elements for success.

“Over the last decade, the State of Qatar has seen its landscapes transformed. The scope of works being performed is vast. Not only the stadiums, which by the way are the perfect combination of art and engineering, but also highways, roads, bridges, hotels, towers, parks, malls, and other mega projects,” HE Argentine Ambassador to the country said.

Argentina and Qatar share the same passion for sports, he explained, saying “we know for a fact that our nationals will paint the streets of Doha with the colors of our flag. And, of course, Messis 10 jersey will be everywhere you may look. Messi is a worldwide figure. We have the privilege of having the two greatest football players of all time, with him alongside Maradona. This will be the first World Cup since the passing of the player who gave us the best goal ever scored in a World Cup, and he will be truly missed,” HE added.

Regarding his country’s participation in the World Cup, HE said “we have very high hopes for our national team and very high expectations for our performance during this World Cup. And that passion, that feeling, is what drives our people to Qatar. Around 35,000 Argentines will arrive in Doha during the competition.” The Embassy, in coordination with Argentinian national authorities and the assistance of the Qatari Government, is preparing a set of actions to guarantee consular assistance to all Argentine citizens. Providing Consular services to nationals abroad is a paramount priority for Argentina, HE continued.

“Argentina is fully committed to support the efforts of HH the Amir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the work of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, as well as those being carried out by other national authorities. We are awaiting anxiously for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 to kick off on Nov. 20,” HE stressed. (QNA)
