Doha, November 10 (QNA) – Manager of Media Relations and Press Office at Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) Khalifa Essa Al Kubaisi said that the QF, like many other state agencies, rounded off all preparations for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, highlighting that the foundation’s activities in the Education City focus on the importance of individual participation that leaves a distinctive impression and a unique experience for visitors.
In exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Kubaisi said that each member of the QF community plays an active role inside and outside the organization to ensure a distinctive and positive experience for all fans, giving them a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: Qatar Foundation organizes events that focus on individual participation and leave unique impressions for visitors. He added that hosting the FIFA World Cup tournament is an opportunity to introduce the national identity and the values of the Arab culture.
Based on this, the Foundation’s individuals and entities work to welcome different cultures, boost cultural exchange, and achieve fruitful results in this field, he added.
Al Kubaisi highlighted the series of soccer-linked initiatives launched by the QF in collaboration with the FIFA and Generation Amazing Foundation. One of those initiatives is Football for Schools (F4S) Program in Qatar, an initiative run by FIFA in cooperation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The initiative aims to contribute to the education, development and empowerment of nearly 700 million children worldwide and provide them with the required support to achieve prosperity. The program seeks to make this sport accessible to boys and girls worldwide by incorporating football activities in educational systems.
Football for Schools (F4S) also includes a free digital app accessible via Google Play and the Apple App Store as well as various training modules aimed at helping physical education teachers, coaches and parents better manage Football for Schools activities and support them in schools and communities.
Al Kubaisi highlighted the QF’s Goals 2022 Program in partnership with Generation Amazing Foundation, The Sports Creative, Goal Click, and Global Peace Foundation, which helps ambitious storytellers to present their views on Qatar ahead of and during the World Cup through inspiring stories about football culture and society in Qatar, photography, and videos.
He added that QF experts developed an educational platform launched by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, which aims to help children and youth develop their basic skills and introduce them to World Cup- related legacy programs. The platform enables children with autism and learning difficulties to access to the activities of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Recently, Education City hosted the Street Child World Cup Doha 2022 (SCWC) from 8 to 15 October 2022. The tournament aimed to bring street-connected young people from across the world together to take part in a football tournament, a festival of arts, and advocate for their rights and protection through a child-focused Congress and General Assembly. Held at the Oxygen Park, the SCWC was open for whoever wanted to attend its activities.
Commenting on the QF’s activities during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Al Kubaisi told QNA that various events and activities would be organized by Education City. In this respect, QF will participate in training volunteers to facilitate the arrival of World Cup participants. Also, the Translation and Training Center at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, which is a QF member, will provide blind and visually impaired football fans with audio descriptive commentary services during the tournament.
He also highlighted the QF’s “Is it a Beautiful Game?” exhibition that showcases the intertwined relationship between football and media coverage through a series of discussions and film screenings. Taking place at the Media Majlis in Northwestern University in Qatar, the exhibition will be open Saturday to Wednesday, from 10am to 5pm, until 12 November 2022.
Also, The QF will organize the GOAL 22 Festival – the first-of-its-kind international school exchange program alongside the FIFA World Cup. Designed to ensure a sustainable legacy for the tournament and achieve social responsibility, this year-long school program is expected to create a network of schools committed to championing ethical and inclusive sport with the aim of nurturing a generation of change-makers and empowering communities.
Al Kubaisi highlighted the launch of the second edition of the D’reesha Performing Arts Festival to be held in conjunction with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, on non-match days. The festival integrates multiple disciplines, from theater and poetry to research, education and technology and will explore the nature of the performing arts and engage a new generation of innovative artists. In its long-term vision, the festival aims to make Education City a center for Arab culture and arts. Through various platforms located across the Educational City, the festival will showcase musical, poetry and scientific shows and others in many fields.
The QF community will welcome football fans at the Education City Stadium, introduce them to Arab culture, guide them to exciting events, and share key ideas about the mission of Education City and the QF. In this context, Education City Fan Experience events are organized on specific days and matches during the tournament, Al Kubaisi said.
Commenting on the QF’s post-World Cup vision, Al Kubaisi revealed the Education City Stadium would become home of two of QF’s progressive schools. “Academyati” and “Qatar Academy for Science and Technology” – two schools under the QF’s Pre-University Education – will be based in Education City Stadium, reflecting the stadium’s position as a hub for learning, innovation and exploration.
In line with its strategy to make football accessible to all, Al Kubaisi said, the QF launched the “Coaching the Coaches Training Program, which aims to provide football coaches, physical education teachers and other sports professionals with the necessary skills to enable them to train children with disabilities.
In addition, the QF will continue to bolster the legacy of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in boosting the culture of volunteering in Qatar, which is a vital pillar for achieving social development and citizenship.
The QF is a multidisciplinary edifice of innovation, where local researchers work to confront pressing national and global challenges. By spreading a culture of lifelong learning and stimulating community participation in programs that support Qatari culture, the QF empowers the local community and contributes to building a better world.
