Rabat,November 13 (QNA) – The Moroccan capital Rabat hosted the first round of the negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Director of International Cooperation and Trade Agreements Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Saleh Al-Mana headed the delegation of the State of Qatar, while the General Manager of Morocco’s Ministry of Industry and Trade Abdelouahed Rahal represented the Moroccan side.
In a statement issued Sunday, MoCI indicated that such negotiations come within the framework of the keenness to promote the bilateral cooperation prospects between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Morocco at all levels, especially with respect to the economic, trade and investment aspects.
During the meeting, the two sides underscored the importance of striking the deal and the role through which it will contribute to serving the joint interests and solidifying the bilateral partnership ties in fulfilling the aspirations of the two sisterly countries.
The primary project of the free trade agreement between the two countries included the discussion of boosting the cooperation in the field of trade in goods, trade in services, investment and intellectual property, competition and dispute settlement, taking into account sensitive sectors.
At the conclusion of the negotiations, the minute of meeting for the first round was signed, in addition to the concurrence with holding the second round of the negotiations for a free trade agreement between the two countries in the Qatari capital Doha.
