Sharm El-Sheikh, November 15 (QNA) – The State of Qatar’s pavilion at the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 27) in Sharm El-Sheikh witnessed several participants who were flocking to the conference venue from various nationalities to have a glimpse of Qatar’s experience in organizing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and get familiarized with the contributions offered by the State of Qatar in the area of environmental sustainability and climate change.

In this framework, representatives of the Japanese delegation participating in COP 27 conference visited the pavilion, where the delegation included representatives from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of the Environment, and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

During the visit, they discussed the topics related to climate change, including issues and topics related to the conference, where the Japanese delegation embarked on touring the Qatari suite to get briefed on the State of Qatar’s efforts and contributions made in the area of environmental sustainability and climate change.

In her inaugural remark before the panel discussion, the representative of the Ministry of Transport Fatima Al Khayal spoke about the importance of reducing the emissions through the transportation projects, while the representative of Hamad Port Mohsen Al-Sheikh tackled the exerted efforts in addressing the climate change.

The panel discussion addressed the effects of climate change on the quality of groundwater, while Khaled Mahmoud from Qatar Foundation talked about the reinjection of the Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) in the State of Qatar.

The panel discussion was concluded with the topic of co-opting members of high-level committee from the young leaders of climate in the Middle East region and North Africa-Road from COP 27 to COP 28, which featured the speeches of a group from Arab Youth Climate Movement Qatar (AYCMQ). (QNA)
