Doha, November 16 (QNA) – The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of October 2022 reached to 105.43 points showing increase by 0.36 percent when compared to CPI of September 2022. Compared to CPI of October 2021, Y-o-Y basis, an increase of 5 percent has been recorded in the general index (CPI) of this month.
This indicator measures inflation, and includes 12 main groups of consumer goods, under which 737 goods and services fall, and is calculated on the basis of 2018 according to the results calculated from the data of the household income expenditure survey 2017-2018.
According to the Planning and Statistics Authoritys statement today, a comparison of the CPI, October 2022 with the CPI, October 2021 (Annual Change), an increase has been recorded in the general index (CPI), by 5.00 percent. This Y-o-Y price increase primary due to the prices rising in also six groups namely: “Recreation and Culture” by 26.94 percent, followed by “Housing, Water, Electricity and other Fuel” by 11.45 percent, “Furniture and Household Equipment” by 1.35 percent, “Food and Beverages” by 1.24 percent, “Education” by 1.08 percent, and “Restaurants and Hotels” by 0.43 percent,
A decrease has been shown in price levels in “Health” by 2.31 percent, “Miscellaneous Goods and Services” by 1.20 percent, “Transport” by 0.62 percent, “Clothing and Footwear” by 0.58 percent, and “Communication” by 0.12 percent. No changes recorded on “Tobacco”.
The groups showed increase as a follow: “Recreation and Culture” by 2.35 percent, “Housing, Water, Electricity and other Fuel” by 1.15 percent, “Communication” by 1.13 percent, “Health” by 0.47 percent, “Furniture and Household Equipment” by 0.44 percent, and “Restaurants and Hotels” by 0.41 percent. A decrease has been recorded in “Food and Beverages” by 1.35 percent, followed by “Clothing and Footwear” by 0.88 percent, “Miscellaneous Goods and Services” by 0.23 percent, and “Transport” by 0.17 percent. “Tobacco” and Education” had remained flat at the last months price level.
The CPI of October 2022 excluding “Housing, Water, Electricity and other Fuel” group stands at 107.49 points recorded an increase by 0.18 percent when compared to the index of September 2022. Compared with counterpart in 2021, the CPI of October index increased by 3.54 percent. (QNA)
