Doha, November 16 (QNA) – The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and beIN MEDIA GROUP (beIN), the global sports, media, and entertainment group, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, outlining their joint cooperation to reinforce and promote the important role that sports and health plays in society.

The MoU between the MoPH and beIN is an extension of the ‘Healthy 2022 World Cup Creating a Legacy of Sport and Health’ project, which is being implemented by the Ministry, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), the International Football Federation (FIFA), and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. The project, that also spans beyond the World Cup, aims for the tournament, and the legacy that it leaves, to be a beacon for reinforcing physical and mental health, and a model to ensure that future mega sport events are both healthy and safe. Amongst others, beIN will actively highlight the project on its flagship beIN SPORTS MENA digital platforms that followed by millions of subscribers and viewers in Qatar and across the region.

On this occasion, Dr. Salih Ali Al Marri, Assistant Minister for Health Affairs of the MoPH, said:

“We are pleased to sign this MoU with beIN, which comes with both parties’ recognition of the importance of integrating health in all policies. Improving the community’s health is a strategic priority for the Ministry, depending not only on medical care, but several social, behavioral, economic, and environmental factors. This includes promoting the significant role of sports as well as practicing the physical activities that contribute to improving human physical and psychological health”.

“As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility towards the communities we operate, beIN strives to place the development of society and international cooperation at the forefront of our business activities. We’re proud to collaborate with the MoPH, and the wider ‘Healthy 2022 World Cup’ project partners, to raise awareness about the importance of physical and mental health, particularly given this pivotal time in our company’s history as the Official Broadcaster of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM in the MENA region”.
