Doha, November 17 (QNA) – The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) announced the names of three winners of the Katara Prize for Cartoon Competition in its second edition out of 404 contestants who submitted about 1005 cartoon works, which were launched during the period from Oct 5 to Nov 25 on sports and football, as Qatar is hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
First place winner was Evan David from the Czech Republic, with a prize of $5,000, and second place went to Amar Salem Dawoud from Iraq with a prize of $4,000, while the third place went to Khathar Hassan Habib from Egypt with a prize of $3,000.
On the other hand, as part of Katara’s activities accompanying the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, an exhibition of sports caricatures will be held. It will include the most beautiful 50 paintings that participated in the Katara Prize for Cartoon Competition in its second edition.
The first edition of the Competition was launched during the period from June 20 to Aug. 15, 2020, and its theme was the experience of work and distance education, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. It had the participation of 506 contestants from 17 Arab countries and 31 foreign countries.
