Doha, November 21 (QNA) – Football, Fine Art & Collectibles Exhibition, which is currently being held in Building 18 of the Cultural Village Foundation Katara and will continue until Dec.18, highlights important historical moments in the world of football in Qatar and the world through works of art, photographs and historical collectibles related to the world of football.

The exhibition is held as part of the Katara activities accompanying the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in three halls. The first displays 25 photos of players from five Arab countries whose teams participated in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, which was held in Doha last year, namely: Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Qatar and Lebanon. The second hall displays drawings of the most important moments in the history of Qatari football, which are pictures chosen by Rashid Muftah Al Sulaiti, editor-in-chief of Al-Saqr magazine.

A third hall displays sports gear belonging to previous World Cup versions, which are t-shirts worn by players in previous World Cup tournaments, old publications that covered the World Cup in previous tournaments, as well as medals, footballs and tickets, all of which belong to different historical eras related to the World Cup.

Rashid Muftah Al Sulaiti, editor-in-chief of Al-Saqr magazine said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the exhibition includes historical pictures about the past of Qatari football and the participation of the Qatari team in world championships and its many victories in the history of world sports, pointing out that the exhibition aims to introduce the fans of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and the guests of Qatar, to the history of Qatari football, by displaying a set of pictures that translate historical moments recorded in the Qatari memory, and before that the regional and global football history.

For his part, Dr. Khaled Al Meer, an amateur collector, said in a statement to QNA that the sports collection hall includes sports shirts that represent defining moments in the history of sports.

The exhibition brings together a collection of shirts for Arab and foreign players who participated in the World Cup, and each shirt carries a special story.

It is worth noting that Katara’s activities accompanying the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will continue until Dec.18, and include 51 main events, from which more than 300 sub-events branch, with the participation of 22 countries. and in cooperation with a number of ministries and governmental and private institutions, these events include festivals, parties, exhibitions, live performances, and various musical events.
