Doha, November 23 (QNA) – Brazil will kick off their participation in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with a match against Serbia at Lusail Stadium on Thursday. Both teams are in Group G of the 2022 World Cup which will conclude on December 18.
In their match tomorrow, the Brazilian team seek to win and claim the title of the World Cup 2022 as they have not won the title since 20 years. They also aspire to enhance their record numbers of winning the World Cup as they had won it five times the last of which was the FIFA World Cup South Korea and Japan 2002.
Neymar’s team have been present in the World Cup over the last century and Brazil is the only country that have participated in all editions of World Cup and have record wins as they claimed the titles of the FIFA World Cup 1958 in Sweden, the FIFA World Cup 1962 in Chile, the FIFA World Cup 1970 in Mexico, the FIFA World Cup 1994 in the USA and the FIFA World Cup 2002 in South Korea and Japan.
The draw of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 placed Brazil in Group G alongside Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon.
In their second match, the Brazilian team will face Switzerland at Stadium 974 on November 28, and will conclude their group’s matches with one against Cameroon at Lusail Stadium on December 2.
The Brazilian football association selected the Westin Doha Hotel, in the heart of Doha, for the team’s accommodation and are conducting their training at Al Arabi Sports Club stadium.
The team are highly expected to win the title of the World Cup and are coached by Adenor Leonardo Bacchi who have been leading the team for 6 years.
The Brazilian national team seek strong performance in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, especially since its members are high-level players capable of winning tournaments. They include attacker Neymar of Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the list, Barcelona player Raphael Dias, Real Madrid duos Vinicius Junior & Rodrygo, Liverpool player Roberto Firmino, and Atletico Madrid Matheus Cunha.
For their part, the Serbian national team aspire to achieve a positive result in tomorrow’s difficult match, as they are one of the teams that do not have a long history in the World Cup. The team did not reach the second round during three participations in the World Cup in the 2006, 2010, and 2018 editions. In the three participations, the Serbian national team ended in the first round, by finishing in third place twice, and in fourth place once, during the group stage.
As part of the qualifying journey for the World Cup Qatar, the Serbian team made a surprise in the European qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as they snatched the first group lead from Portugal by 3 points.
The draw placed the Serbian national team in Group G, against teams that have a long history in the tournament and with many achievements.
In this participation, Serbia is counting on players active in major European leagues, such as Spanish Seville goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic, Italian Fiorentina defender Aleksa Terzic, Italian midfield players of Juventus and Lazio Filip Kostic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Dutch winger of Ajax Amsterdam Dusan Tadic, among others.
In their second match, the Serbian national team will play against Cameroon on November 28 at Al Janoub Stadium, while their last match in the first round will be against Switzerland on December 2 at Stadium 974. (QNA)
