London, November 23 (QNA) – Owners of Manchester United announced they would consider putting the iconic Premier League club up for sale.
“As part of this process, the board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company,” the Club’s Board indicted in a statement.
The Glazers of America have owned the club since 2005. The team’s absence from the podium and its reduced returns on the pitch, particularly in the last nine years, and the repeated fans protests, prompted the club to issue this statement.
The statement comes hours after the team announced the departure of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, in a mutual agreement and with immediate effect following the related statement made by Ronaldo and his accusation that club officials were not interested in the sport success and the development of the infrastructure of the team.
