Muscat, November 23 (QNA) – The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, met with Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Dr. Qu Dongyu, who is currently visiting Muscat.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to improve joint cooperation in the food security sector, in addition to developing investment in the fields of agriculture, livestock and fisheries.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger, it serves developed and developing countries alike. Founded on Oct.16. 1945 in Quebec City, Canada. In 1951 the organization’s headquarters were moved from Washington, D.C., United States, to Rome, Italy. Until the eighth of August 2013.
FAO is also a source of accurate knowledge and information and assists developed and developing countries in improving agricultural, forestry and fisheries practices, thereby ensuring good nutrition and food security for all. (QNA)
