Doha, November 27 (QNA) – Costa Rica coach Luis Fernando Suarez confirmed Sunday (today) that they are currently focusing on meeting Germany in the third round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar after their victory over Japan today in the second round of the group stage.
The Costa Rican coach added during the press conference that followed the match that after the severe loss that the team suffered against Spain (7-0) in the first round of the tournament, they needed to unite, strive to change their image, and achieve victory over the Japanese team, to prove that the team deserves to stay in the competition as long as possible.
Germany’s match with Spain does not interest the Costa Rican team much rather, focusing on preparing the team in the best way for next Thursday’s confrontation is what matters, he said.
The team does not want to look back on their great loss against Spain but wants to forward in the right direction. We maintain focus, redouble our efforts, and have the initiative and boldness, he added.
The Costa Rican coach praised the team’s strong defensive line that stopped the Japanese attack and prevented it from reaching the goal. We will put a lot of effort into the exercises because the confrontation with Germany will not be easy, as it was difficult with Japan today.
The coach said that the team will not give up and is still in the competition and will work to move forward. The team will work to raise the levels of concentration before the Germany match.
