Washington, November 27 (QNA) – The Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD) obtained the 2022 Energy Innovation Award, the international category from the US Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) after it had created a hybrid and high efficient air conditioning system for outdoor air treatment that offers eco-friendly conditioning solutions used for the indoor and outdoor spaces.
GORD obtainment of the award came during its participation in AEE World Conference that was convened at World Congress Center (GWCC) in Atlanta of Georgia state, where it highlighted its innovations and solutions in the area of rationalizing the energy and combating of climate change, including air conditioning system dubbed Synergia 7n1. The system has recently received a patent from UK Intellectual Property Office and was registered at World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Chairman of (GORD) Dr. Yousef Al Horr said the idea of inventing Synergia7n1 came due to the desperate need for contributing to the efforts aimed at combating climate change through treating the Qatari carbon footprint in energy utilization, especially in the context of wet and hot climate in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Al Horr indicated that the air conditioning system Synergia7n1 offers an eco-friendly alternative through combining seven distinguished solutions for the compressor-based traditional outdoor air conditioning units system, which is used to cool indoor and outdoor spaces in projects of various sizes, adding that GORD’s efforts in the field of environmental sustainability are compatible with Qatar National Environment and Climate Change Strategy (QNE) goals that have been launched recently in response to the State of Qatar’s commitments toward Paris Agreement to reduce high temperature to less than 1.5 degrees Celsius.
In addition, experts of GORD offered live performances during the exhibition currently being held on the sidelines of AEE World Conference with respect to the innovative solutions offered by GORD as part of its environmental system for energy efficiency, where Synergia7n1 3D model was presented and attracted the interest of energy experts who provided a visual explanation on the methods of integrating the three known techniques for cooling, including dryer dehumidifier technology, Indirect Evaporative cooling technology,Vapor Compression Refrigeration Cycle technology, as well as various energy harvesting technologies combined in a synergistic manner to outdo the conventional refrigeration systems available in the market, in terms of efficiency and energy savings.
In addition, AEE chose GORD last year as an official branch accredited to the State of Qatar.
GORD is a non-profit organization that spearheads sustainability environment in the Middle East region and North Africa, its main headquarters is located in Qatar Science & Technology Park, where it seeks through its diverse activities to support the transition of communities, corporate structure and urban environment toward sustainability, in addition to enhancing innovation and upgrading the capabilities to enable low carbon sustainable growth for current and generations and generations to come.
