Doha, November 28 (QNA) – Former Egyptian national team goalkeeper Nader El Sayed praised Qatar’s imprints in organizing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting the great creativity achieved upon reaching the 9th day of the World Cup.

In his exclusive remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), El Sayed added that Qatar managed to win the World Cup title through its professional organization, the perfect quality shown in all aspects, establishing human values, showcasing Arabic and Islamic traditions, in addition to the fact that this World Cup edition saw the first appearance of Qatar’s national football team.

Commenting on Qatar’s loss to Ecuador and Senegal, El Sayed said that we need to be more realistic, Qatar was not expected to qualify for the final rounds. Undoubtedly, the players were under immense pressure, and they were supposed to be well prepared psychologically in light of the great competition during the World Cup.

El Sayed added that the outstanding organization and the massive success of the tournament do not necessarily mean that Qatar should win the World Cup title. El Sayed addressed the criticism of the Qatari national team, saying that it is unfair as they are not competing in a friendly tournament but in the World Cup.

El Sayed nominated the national teams of Brazil, Argentina, and France to compete for the World Cup title, pointing out that the Qatari national team should get the best out of their first participation in the World Cup and build on it for the following years.

The former Egyptian goalkeeper, who participated in 100 international matches with the Egyptian national team, said that Qatar’s concluding match against the Netherlands on Tuesday is regarded as history-making, especially since every match in the World Cup is considered a tournament. He pointed out that Qatar Football Association (QFA) will undoubtedly set a strategy for the team for the next phase and decide whether coach Felix Sanchez will remain with the team.

El Sayed concluded his statement to QNA by saying that Morocco and Saudi Arabia have ample qualifying chances, hoping they will go far in the competition, and wishing all the best for the Arabic national teams. (QNA)
