Doha, November 29 (QNA) – Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly said he was riding high after his side’s 2-1 victory over Ecuador on Tuesday that took the Lions of Teranga to the last 16 in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Speaking at the after-match press conference, Koulibaly said he is much happier with their advance to the knockouts more than with his player of the match award, hailing his side’s qualification as a historic moment that will remain as a legacy for this generation.
Koulibaly dedicated his award to the family of late Senegalese legend Bouba Diop, who scored Senegal’s first-ever World Cup goal against France in the 2002 edition.
He added that his side seeks to give the most honorable image of the African football in the World Cup, noting that Senegal have acquired a great confidence in the tournament. (QNA)
