London, November 30 (QNA) – Former England national team player John Barnes said that everyone should respect Qatari laws, customs, traditions, and culture during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

In an article published in the British newspaper The Times, Barnes said that the State of Qatar has invited everyone to the World Cup, but demanded everyone to be respectful of their ways, laws and culture, criticizing the Western campaigns against Qatar’s World Cup.

“It’s interesting to observe that some of those who are making a lot of noise now have had little to say about the development of Qatar over the previous 20 years,” he added.

Barnes, who played in 79 international matches with the England national team between 1983 and 1995, stressed that the situation in the State of Qatar is better with the development in housing, facilities, and wages.

Before the World Cup, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office issued a set of advice and instructions to fans of the England and Wales national teams coming to the State of Qatar to attend the FIFA World Cup matches and asked them to review Qatari laws and customs to know what they should avoid during their stay and to respect the customs and traditions of the host country.
