Germany’s only chance to continue their World Cup campaign is to win their encounter with Costa Rica.
To qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament, Germany must defeat Costa Rica and hope for Spain to beat or tie with Japan. In the case of a tie between Spain and Japan Germany could have an advantage of goals number over Japan.
Costa Rica, who received a heavy defeat from Spain (0-7) before adjusting their lines and beating Japan (1-0), will do everything to win and snatch the Qualification pass. If they tie with Germany, they will await the Spain – Japan Match result.
