Seoul, December 04 (QNA) – A South Korean delegation, led by Trade Minister Dukgeun Ahn is heading to the United States for talks on the Inflation-Reduction Act that would give around USD 7,500 in tax credits to home buyers of electric cars, provided they are assembled in North America only.

The Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy reported today that the delegation will visit Washington tomorrow for four days, to discuss issues related to Inflation-Reduction Act directives with US officials from the US administration and Congress, led by US Trade Representative Katherine Tai and White House Senior Adviser for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation John Podesta.

The visit comes just days after South Korea submitted an official written second opinion to the United States on tax concessions for clean hydrogen fuel production, carbon capture, and environmentally friendly commercial vehicles.

Early last month, South Korea made its first official comment on electric vehicles and related sectors, strongly expressing the need to make an exception for electric cars made in South Korea. (QNA)
