We already knew that Dead Island 2 will let you taunt zombies with your voice with Amazonā€™s new Alexa Game Control technology, and during Tuesdayā€™s Dead Island 2 showcase on Tuesday, developer Deep Silver gave us a better idea of how the feature might work in practice.

In a prerecorded and staged skit (the conceit is that the people in the video are actually on the run from zombies and just so happen to find a working copy of Dead Island 2), the video showed how certain voice commands will activate certain actions in the game. ā€œHey zombieā€ gets the attention of a nearby zombie in-game. ā€œGet me my axā€ has the player draw an ax that is shooting fire for some reason. ā€œTime to go locoā€ activates some kind of super mode.

Those arenā€™t the only voice commands at your disposal; while these arenā€™t shown in the video, your voice will also let you do things like set waypoints (ā€œwhereā€™s the nearest [thing]?ā€), pick your best weapon, say hello to other characters, and ask them for help, according to Amazon spokesperson Jeremy Bartram.

While the feature looks entertaining on video, weā€™ll have to wait and see if Alexa Game Control in Dead Island 2 is actually useful or if itā€™s just a gimmick. The long-in-development game is finally scheduled to launch on April 28th. The game is coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via the Epic Games Store, though Alexa Game Control will only work on Xbox and PC.

Update December 6th, 3:53PM ET: Added information about additional commands available.
