Ankara, December 21 (QNA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed his country’s keenness on boosting cooperation with Africa, pointing out that Turkey always seeks to develop its economic ties with Africa through fair and balanced manner, and will manage trade with the continent’s states on win-win basis.

Erdogan said that he discussed with visiting President of Senegal Macky Sall ways to boost cooperation in economy, trade, investment, defensive industries and counter-terrorism, confirming the resolve of the two countries to develop the relations in all fields and sectors.

He added that he agreed with his Senegalese counterpart to raise the level of trade exchange between the two sides to USD 1 billion during the upcoming period, pointing out that the volume of the trade exchange between the two countries went up 42 percent in 2021 compared to 2020, to reach USD 540 million.

For his part, the Senegalese President lauded Turkey’s efforts in averting food crisis in the world against the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian war, by virtue of the Black Sea Grain Initiative signed between Turkey, United Nations, Russia, and Ukraine to resume grain exports from three Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea, affirming the strong relations between Turkey and Senegal.
