Doha, December 25 (QNA) – The initiative “Qatar FIFA 2022 for All: Celebrating Football with Refugees and Displaced People” has been praised by many government and local officials in the countries where it was held.

The initiative was launched by the State of Qatar in several camps supervised by Qatar Charity to enable refugees and displaced persons to watch the 2022 World Cup matches.

These events were organized in several countries such as Bangladesh, Sudan, northern Syria, and Somalia, and were received by refugees and displaced persons.

The official authorities in the Basinshahr region in Bangladesh thanked the State of Qatar, and Qatar Charity and its partners for bringing joy and happiness to the hearts of refugees for a whole month, by establishing areas for fans on the 2022 World Cup.

Assistant in charge of the Rohingya refugee camp in Basinshahr Tariq Al Islam, said: “It was a wonderful sporting event in which all men, women, children, and the elderly participated, and all the participants enjoyed watching the atmosphere of the World Cup in Qatar.”
The displaced people of the peace camp for the displaced in the Darfur region of Sudan, in turn, watched the World Cup in an atmosphere of joy. Abdullah Ahmed Elias, sports official and head of the “Youth of Construction and Reconstruction” in the peace camp in Abuja, said: “The provision of areas for fans in the camp is part of the FIFA Qatar 2022 initiative for all: Participation The joy of refugees and displaced persons brought joy and relief to the displaced in the camp and made them transcend the atmosphere of conflict, to be replaced by an atmosphere of coexistence and everyone’s encouragement for the competing teams in the Qatar World Cup.

In a related matter, the fans’ area that was established in the city of Grove in the Puntland region of Somalia received a great official and popular welcome to follow the Qatar World Cup 2022, where the head of the Civil Society Association, Abdul Rahman Abdul Razzaq, said: “We feel proud and happy when we see the enthusiasm on the faces of the displaced.”
For his part, Deputy Mayor of the city of Gruwi Muhammad Ali praised what Qatar Charity has done in realizing the dream of the children and youth of the camps, and said: “They were in dire need of such projects that contribute to raising the level of their creative excellence and showing their talents.” (QNA)
