Doha, December 25 (QNA) – The President of Al Markhiya Sports Club Ali Al Mesaifri confirmed that the football team is awaiting strong and difficult matches in the QNB Stars League, whose matches will resume on January 4, after the pause that witnessed the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals.

Al Mesaifri said in a special statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the return of international players to their clubs will ignite the leagues matches, making them heated and more challenging because of their technical skills and preparedness, after having trained with the Qatari national team that preceded the World Cup, as well as competing against strong teams during the tournament.

He added that despite the Qatari teams loss in its matches during the World Cup, it is certain that players benefited a lot from this participation, gaining great experience via their contact with experienced world stars in major international tournaments, as well as through being on the pitch in their first global experience.

He explained that Al Markhiya SC performed well in its matches in the past seven rounds preceding the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, despite losing points in a number of matches, which could have been gained had it not been for some technical conditions related to the absence and injury of some team players, as well as the lack of the teams attack success in reaching the competitors net in some matches.

He added that Al Markhiya aims to finish this leagues season by in a central position, especially as it is a newly promoted team to the first division, which naturally means that it is not a direct competitor with the golden square teams or aspires to win the league title.

Al Markhiya Sports Club President concluded his statement to QNA that the great Qatari success in organizing the World Cup and the impressive technical levels of the participating teams will surely reflect positively on the Qatari league, as all players seek to intensify their efforts in order to appear at the best levels.
