Melbourne. December 30 (QNA) – The Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem has been one of those graced by the organization of the Australian Open to play with one of the invitations the first ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, in which he was a finalist in 2020 against the Serbian Novak Djokovic, who came back and defeated him in five sets (6-4, 4-6, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4).

Thiem, champion of the US Open in 2020, has had to battle in recent years with a wrist injury that kept him out for a long time and that kept him away from the best in the world in which he was installed as number three of the world.

However, Thiem, currently out of the ATP ‘Top 100’ (103), was showing signs of improvement and recovering part of his best level ahead of 2023 in which he hopes to be a regular at circuit tournaments again. (QNA)
