Washington, December 30 (QNA) – American President Joe Biden signed a USD 1.66 trillion bill funding the U.S. government for fiscal year 2023.

The White House said in a statement today that it will also guarantee the provision of critical aid to Ukraine.

The law provides USD 45 billion in economic and military aid to Ukraine, as well as more aid for students with disabilities, additional funding to protect workers’ rights in addition to more affordable housing for families and veterans.

It also includes an amendment to a 19th-century law to expressly state that the US vice president cannot intervene to overturn the formal ratification of election results by Congress.

The bill was approved by the House of Representatives, last week, after its approval in the US Senate, and with the signing of the US President, it became law.

The text secured the support of some Republicans, allowing for easy passage and giving the president a legislative victory as he heads into his second year in office
This signature will prevent the government shutdown, which may usually occur if it is not approved by either House or the US President before the end of the year.

It also guarantees the federal government its spending through the fiscal year ending Sept. 30 of 2023. (QNA)
