Doha, January 02 (QNA) – The Qatar Calendar House announced that earth planet will reach the nearest point in its orbit around the sun (perigee point) on Wednesday evening at 7:17 pm Doha local time, when the Earth will be at a distance of roughly 147 million km from the sun, with a difference of approximately five million kilometers from what it was during last July.
It said on Monday that such phenomenon happens at the beginning of January of each year, while it reaches the farthest point in its orbit around the sun during July of each year.
The variation in the distance between the earth and the sun is actually not the reason behind the occurrence of the climate changes on the earth, but its plays a vital role in affecting the number of days of the four astronomical seasons, as the phenomenon is among the natural phenomena and has no adverse impact on the inhabitants of earth planet.
Paradoxically, the Calendar House added, although the earth remains at the nearest point from the sun in January (Winter season), however, the temperature degree remains low, as opposed to summer season where the earth remains at its farthest point from the sun in July with high degree of temperature.
