Doha, January 03 (QNA) – Qatar’s handball national team defeated Montenegro 30/28 in a friendly match held today in Al Duhail Sports Hall in preparations for the 28th World Men’s Handball Championship to be hosted by Poland and Sweden during Jan. 11-29, 2023.

The first half ended with the Qatari team leading by 16/11, and the two teams will meet in a second test match on Thursday.

The two matches are the last tests for the Qatari team in preparations for the World Championship. Last month, the Qatari Handball national team played two test matches in Cairo against Egyptian handball national team.

The first match ended with the victory of the Egyptian team 21-18 while the two teams were tied in the second game 30-30. Last October, The Qatari team played two matches against Tunisian counterpart, the first ended with a draw of 22-22, while the second was won by Tunisia 23-20.

The Qatari team will leave for Poland on Tuesday and will contend in the World Championship in Group E along with Germany, Serbia, and Algeria.

The Qatari team will begin their competition campaign next Friday against Germany on Jan. 13, then play their second match against Algeria on Jan. 15, before concluding their first-round matches against Serbia on Jan. 17. (QNA)
