Paris, January 04 (QNA) – Lionel Messi, crowned FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 champion with his Argentina team, has returned to the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) training center, according to the clubs announcement today.

Paris Saint-Germains official Twitter account said that Leo Messi returned to the training center this morning after his achievement in the World Cup, with the account publishing pictures of the player’s arrival and his meeting with his colleagues.

The published pictures showed footballers, members of the technical staff and club employees, including the Brazilian Neymar, greeting Messi by forming an honorary corridor amidst applause upon his entering the stadium, before the club’s Portuguese Football Advisor Luis Campos presented him with a small honorary shield.

Seven-times Golden Ball award winner, Messi left his hometown in Rosario on Monday evening with his family after huge and loud celebrations in his country, after having led Argentina to its third World Cup title in its history. Messi arrived in Paris on Tuesday and joined the training session today, being the last Paris Saint-Germain World Cup participant to return to training, following Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, who scored a hat-trick in the final, and Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, who reached the semi-finals with Morocco in an unprecedented African and Arab historical achievement. Mbappe and Hakimi both participated in PSG’s matches against Strasbourg and Lens, before getting 10 rest days.

PSG will play on Friday in the 32nd round of the French Cup, against LB Chateauroux, most likely without Messi, who may appear in the Angers match next Wednesday in the League. (QNA)
