Riyadh, January 05 (QNA) – Qatar’s rally driver Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah onboard Toyota, won the fifth stage of the forty-fifth edition of Dakar International Rally’s 2023.
The rally is being hosted by Saudi Arabia for the fourth consecutive time until Jan.15, with the participation of 820 drivers and navigators representing 68 different countries.
Defending champion; Al Attiyah and co-driver Mathieu Baumel covered the distance of the fifth stage in Hail amounting to 645.04 km 4.13.23 hours, 1.17 minutes behind the Spaniard Carlos Sainz, who finished second, and 3.44 minutes behind the third-placed Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel with a difference of 8.43 minutes from the Saudi Yazeed Al Rajhi who finished fourth, and with a difference of 11.09 minutes from the French Guerlain Chicherit who finished fifth.
With this victory, Al Attiyah continues to top the general rankings of the rally with a total time of 20:47:36 hours, followed by Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel in second place, 22:36 minutes behind, and Saudi Yazeed Al Rajhi third, 27:01 minutes behind the leader. (QNA)
