Basra, January 05 (QNA) – The Manager of the Saudi national team Saad Al-Shehri, confirmed his country’s team readiness to face its Yemeni counterpart on Friday, at Basra Stadium, for the first group in the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup football tournament (Gulf25), which starts tomorrow and continues until Jan. 19.

Al-Shehri said in the pre-match press conference: “We are happy to be in Basra on our first visit, and we wish Iraq success in organizing the tournament. The first match is very important against Yemen. We will go step by step with the group stage. The preparation was not only for this match, but for the entire tournament. We prepared well and we have goals that we look forward to achieving.”
He added, “We came with the ambition to achieve the title. There is no difference between an Olympic player or a first-team player.”
Al-Shehri, who is the fourth Saudi manager to lead the national team in the Gulf Cup, continued: “The national coach enjoys great support. Ammo Baba and Walid Regragui are honorable models, and we strive to accomplish achievements worthy of the name of Saudi football.”
The 42-year-old manager concluded: “We respect the Yemeni national team a lot, and there is no doubt that Yemeni football has developed well recently, and they prepared for the tournament through a preparatory camp in Egypt, and it is certainly difficult to predict the result of the match.” (QNA)
