Baghdad, January 08 (QNA) – The Iraqi Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani announced on Sunday that the commercial production of Karbala refinery will commence in mid-March 2023, with a gradual ascending capacity to reach the capacity of (140,000 barrels per day) at the end of next July.
He pointed out that the refinery products will be according to the highest European standards and specifications (Euro 5), indicating that the refinery production from high-octane gasoline will be a grade of 95, with a capacity ranging from 8 to 9 million liters per day.
He added that this can be increased to 12 million liters, pointing out that It will cover a large proportion of up to 75 percent of domestic consumption, while the rest of the import will be covered by local production after developing a number of other refineries.
