Riyadh, January 11 (QNA) – HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater participated in the second roundtable meeting for ministers concerned with the mineral resources sector, organized by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, within the framework of the second edition of the International Mining Conference held under the theme of “Towards the Establishment of Reliable and Flexible Mineral Supply Chains in Africa and West and Central Asia.” The conference will continue until January 12 in Riyadh.
The roundtable meeting witnessed the participation of a number of ministers, representatives of governmental delegations, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and multilateral agencies concerned with the mining sector at the regional and international levels.
During the meeting, four dialogue sessions were held to highlight the role of governments in developing vital supply chains for minerals, to enhance interstate cooperation to accelerate the establishment of a green industry for metals, to promote global cooperation to create centers of excellence in a manner that supports development capabilities in the region, and to discuss opportunities for joint cooperation to maximize the utilization of minerals, with a focus on the role of mining in economic development, and reviewing successful examples from regional countries in this field.
HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry also participated in the conference’s first day activities which kicked off earlier today and included high-level and specialized dialogue sessions.
An exhibition accompanied the event showcasing the latest and future mining technologies as well as highlighting investment opportunities in the Africa, West and Central Asia regions. (QNA)
