Doha, January 12 (QNA) – Qatar’s table tennis doubles team has qualified for the completions in the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships Finals hosted by Durban, South Africa on May 2023.
Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi and Mohammed Abdulwahhab defeated Kazakh’s doubles Iskander Kharki and Aidos Kenzhigulov (4-1) this evening in the qualifying match of the Asian qualifiers at Lusail Hall in Doha.
With this victory, Qatari table tennis continued its series of successes, making the Qatari team the only Arab team from the Asian continent to qualify for the 2023 World Table Tennis Championships Finals.
The Asian qualifiers include 13 teams in the mens doubles category, 12 teams in the womens doubles category, and 12 teams and players in the mixed doubles category, 25 players in the men’s singles category, and 28 players in the women’s singles category.
Qatar’s hosting of the qualifiers came within the framework of the Qatar Table Tennis Association’s keenness to organize large events and tournaments on an ongoing basis.
President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA), President of the Arab and Asian Federations, and the First Vice-President of the International Federation, Khalil Al Mohannadi, praised the remarkable achievement of the Qatari team by qualifying for the 2023 World Championships in South Africa.
