Doha, January 12 (QNA) – The King of the Court volleyball Championship competitions continued on Thursday evening with the participation of the best 30 teams for men and women in the world, and will conclude on Saturday.
Organized by Aspire Zone Foundation, the four-day tournament witnesses the participation of the Qatari team which is composed of the duo Ahmed Tejan and Sherif Younis ranked second globally, who won the title of this tournament in January 2022, when Aspire Zone hosted it for the first time in the Middle East.
However, the Qatari team did not participate in Thursday’s competition, which witnessed the start of women’s quarter-finals with the participation of Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Ukraine, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, United States of America, Lithuania, and a joint team that includes Australia and Italy.
Semi-quarter finals will be held on Friday for ladies with the qualification of 4 teams for the semi-finals, and 3 teams from ladies qualified for semi-finals, including Switzerland, Netherlands and Lithuania, while the rest of the teams will contest to capture the fourth card, then go through the semi-finals to qualify for the final round that will be held on Saturday.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Chief Marketing Officer at Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) Mohammed Mubarak Al Kuwari said that AZF boasts of hosting King of the Court Championship finals for the second time with the participation of the best teams worldwide, including Qatar which is ranked second globally.
Aspire Zone always seeks to consolidate new concepts to attract new sports to the region to leave effective impact on the community’s engagement and support the healthy lifestyle, Al Kuwari said.
For her part, President of Qatar Women’s Sports Committee Lolwa Hussein Al Marri said in a statement to (QNA) that she is delighted to see the best global teams participating in women’s King of the Court competitions in Qatar, adding that she hopefully wants to see an advanced level of Qatari women’s team.
