Basra, January 14 (QNA) – The Qatar national football team will conclude on Sunday evening its training at the sub-stadiums of the Basra International Stadium, in preparation to face the host country’s team, its Iraqi counterpart on Monday, in the semi-finals of the Arabian Gulf Cup “Khaleeji Zain 25”.
The national team will perform its main training session under the supervision of Coach Bruno Miguel Pinheiro tomorrow, where the technical staff will focus on tactical aspects needed by the squad for its match against Iraq.
Pinheiro seeks a perfect appearance, a strong and active attack performance, and a rectification of some reoccurring errors in defensive performance, especially evident in the matches against Bahrain and the UAE during the group stage.
The technical staff of ‘Al Adaam’ will also decide the basic formation and the style of play that it will adopt during the match, armed by Pinheiro’s analysis of Iraq’s confrontations during the group stage against the teams of Oman, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
‘Al Adaam’ players were satisfied with remedial exercises at the gym of the Movenpick Hotel, the mission’s residence in Basra, to give footballers enough time to rest, especially after their match against UAE in the final round of the group stage.
National team players showed strong enthusiasm and determination to give their best during their match against the Lions of Mesopotamia in the semi-finals.
On the other hand, the Iraqi national team underwent a tough training session this evening in the sub-stadiums of Basra International Stadium, in rainy weather, in preparation for the match against Qatar.
Spanish Coach Jesus Casas focused during the training session on the physical readiness of the team and on tactical aspects in preparation for the match.
.The Arabian Gulf Cup 25 technical committee decided that from the semi-final round onwards, a 6th player substitution will be permitted in the case of the match requiring extra time.
It was decided that the Iraqi team would wear its fully white uniform against the Qatari team, who would wear the traditional burgundy uniform. Additionally, Iraq’s goalkeeper would wear yellow, and Qatar’s goalkeeper blue.
It was also decided that the Bahrain national team will wear its red uniform whereas the Oman national team will wear its white uniform during the other semi-final match that will take place on the same day, at Al Minaa Olympic Stadium. (QNA)
