Sydney, January 17 (QNA) – FIFA announced that more than 500,000 tickets were sold to fans from more than 120 countries to attend the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup matches in Australia and New Zealand.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from July 20 to Aug. 20, and ticket sales began last week, with the finale being the most sought-after match.

The opening match will be held on July 20 at Eden Park Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand, and the final match will take place at Stadium Australia in Sydney a month later.

This will be the first edition in the history of the tournament, which will witness the participation of 32 teams, and it will witness the first participation of Morocco, Zambia, the Philippines, Vietnam and the Republic of Ireland.

FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said that the ticket sales process for the tournament made a great start, and this is not limited to the local fans in Australia and New Zealand, as the list of the highest countries that witnesses a demand for tickets includes the United States, England, Qatar, Germany. China, Canada, the Republic of Ireland and France so far.

She added that this matter reflects the growing value of women’s football, and the great enthusiasm that is growing among fans all over the world, who want to be part of the championship.
