Doha, January 18 (QNA) – The Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSFA) announced the draw for the eighth edition of the Al Furjan football tournament, which will kick off on Sunday at Al Markhiya stadiums, with the participation of 16 teams.

The draw divided the teams into four groups, four teams each, as Group A included teams of Ain Khaled, Al Sadd, Al Waab, and Lusail.

Group B included teams of Al Hilal, Police Institute, Al Wakra, and Al Udeid, while Group C had teams of Dukhan, Lebsayyer, Al Nasr, and Halul, and Group D included teams of Al Maida, Madinat Khalifa, Muaither, and Simaisma.

Al-Furjan stadiums in Al Markhiya will host two matches per day, starting from Sunday, the first day of the tournament, which will be held in the group system from stage one so that two teams from each group qualify. Then after that stage round, the matches will be held in the knockout system.

In a statement today, Director of Events and Activities at the QSFA Abdullah Al Dosari stressed the importance of this tournament, which represents an opportunity for young people – from16 years of age and over, – as it opens the way for Qatari players who are not registered in the lists of the Qatar Football Association to show their talents and abilities. The tournament also represents an opportunity for the emergence of new faces.

Organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, the eighth edition will be the first in the Al Furjan championships series within its calendar of events and activities in 2023. (QNA)
