Basra, January 19 (QNA) – Iraq won the 25th Gulf Cup on Thursday, their fourth Gulf Cup trophy after defeating Oman 3-2 in a mouth-watering final at Basra International Stadium.

A 24th minute goal from Ibrahim Bayesh seemed to be enough to secure the title for the hosts in the regular time, before Oman’s Salaah Al Yahyaei levelled it from the spot in minute 90+10 to take the game into extra time.

Amjad Atwan put Iraq in a 2-1 lead in the 116th minute, but again Omar Al Malki found the Iraqi net in minute 119. Finally, Manaf Younis’ header in minute 120+2 gave the hosts a precious 3-2 victory.

Iraq’s third goal was given after Romanian referee Kovacs Stefan consulted the VAR.

This was the second clash between both sides in this edition after their goalless tie in the group stage. (QNA)
